The SmarTest Program

Dr. Lander’s male hormone replacement program is specially designed for any men who want to enjoy the quality of life benefits associated with a normal hormonal balance. Dr, Lander has over 20 years experience as a Board Certified Urologist and specialist in male hormone replacement and has focused much of his practice on optimizing hormones to make people feel and look better. Patients receiving hormones from Dr. Lander get frequent and thorough personalized visits and laboratory evaluations appropriate to that individual. We also have a special High Risk program for men who have a history of treated prostate cancer.

Hormone replacement is very safe in men if supervised carefully. Normal levels of Testosterone are associated with mental, sexual, and physiologic effects that are vital to good health and quality of life. Levels decline each decade in men starting in their 30’s and 40’s and in some men levels drop drastically. A simple inexpensive blood test can make the diagnosis (call our office to obtain a lab slip).

Men who lack adequate testosterone may have many of the following symptoms:

New studies have associated low testosterone levels with higher risk of sudden cardiac death, osteoporosis with fractures, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and mood swings with irritability. Patients who are low on Testosterone actually have a higher risk for prostate cancer!

Testosterone replacement is easy and safe and can be done with gels, injections or long acting pellets. Improvement is symptoms occurs over weeks to months but is often quite dramatic. Men who are interested but have a history of successfully treated prostate cancer are eligible to receive testosterone if they participate in the SmarTest™ High Risk Program.

The cost of participation in the SmarTest™ Program is very reasonable in comparison to most hormone optimization programs. Unfortunately Medicare and insurance companies do not recognize the value of this level of customized care. Costs for labs and medications may vary but are also quite reasonable and these are often covered by insurance. Our office can discuss financial arrangements when consultations are scheduled.

Within the first few days I felt better, energy seemed up and I had a bit of a hop in my step. Two weeks later, I was back at the gym, sleeping through the night and noticed my thoughts seemed clearer. My coworkers noticed the change in my attitude and my productivity went through the roof.
